Artist Biography by John Bush
Formed in the late '60s in Ontario by saxophonist Steve Kennedy, guitarist Ken Marco, keyboard player William "Smitty" Smith, and drummer Wayne Stone, Motherlode scored with a Top 40 hit in 1969 -- the smooth "When I Die." Two years after the release of the album of the same title, though, the group had broken up.
