JVKE Biography by Matt Collar Singer, songwriter, and producer JVKE is a social media star known for his upbeat brand of soulful pop. JVKE broke through with his 2020 single "Upside Down," later remixed by Charlie Puth. Born Jake Pierrelee in 2001, JVKE grew up with a music teacher mom and pastor dad. He initially took piano and drum lessons before switching to guitar while in elementary school. He eventually joined his church band and by his teens was writing his own music, drawing inspiration from artists like Drake and Jason Derulo. After high school, he briefly attended music school before leaving early to focus on his music career. It was while in quarantine during the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic that he began collaborating with his mom, posting mash-ups and remixes of songs online. Many of their videos went viral, as did several of his own songs, including "Upside Down." His work caught the attention of industry stars, including singer Charlie Puth, who in turn posted a remix of "Upside Down." More of JVKE's songs followed, including the holiday-themed "Ho Ho Ho," 2021's "This Is What Falling in Love Feels Like," and 2022's "Charger."
