GELO Biography by TiVo Staff GELO is the rap moniker of pro basketball player LiAngelo Ball, who in addition to his sports career makes music directly informed by the bouncy bass and humid hooks of early-2000s Dirty South rap. Hallmarks of the crunk era mixed with more modernized trap production on GELO's 2025 single "Tweaker." Ball was born in 1998 into a family of college basketball players, and was playing at the professional level himself by 2018. Always interested in music, he rapped under the name GELO (sometimes G3), and premiered his debut track, "Tweaker," in January 2025 on a livestream with N3on. The song quickly caught on, hitting the U.S. singles charts and securing GELO a multimillion-dollar record deal with Def Jam Recordings.
