Diego Leanos, better known as Lil Xan, was born on September 6, 1996 and grew up in Redlands, California. He gained recognition through platforms such as Soundcloud, where he has over 100,000 followers, and YouTube. Leonas' popularity grew after the release of the music video for his song "Betrayed" in August 2017, which has garnered more than 42 million views[1] as of November 2017, and over 21 million streams on Spotify. He is also known for the songs "Slingshot", "Xanarchy", "Been Bout It", “Montana Doe”, and "Who Are You". Additionally, Leonas has worked with video editor and producer Cole Bennett, to release videos for the songs “Far”, and “Betrayed”. Leonas is considered to be a member of the "Soundcloud rap" movement, having developed a following there as an unsigned artist. Leonas regularly collaborates with $teven Cannon and Aris Ray, fellow associates of the Low Gang collective. Leonas has appeared on Billboards Emerging Artists list and peaked at no. 28.[2] In an interview with Leonas,[3] he states that he dropped out of high school during his freshman year. He experimented with the drug Xanax (a Benzodiazapine) in 2014 which became an addiction, which he reflects on in his music.
