Clave Especial Biography by Timothy Monger Hailing from Salinas, California, Clave Especial are a regional Mexican group who have enjoyed breakout success in the Latin world with songs like "Rápido Soy" and "No Pasa Nada." Led by cousins Alejandro Ahumada and Leonardo Lomeli, the band debuted in 2021 and spent several years building their fan base, which blossomed thanks to their hit 2025 album Mija No Te Asustes. Ahumada (vocals, guitar) and Lomeli (producer, lead guitar) grew up amid the migrant farm worker community in Salinas, listening to corridos, norteño, banda, and other regional Mexican styles. After forming Clave Especial in 2021, their first release was the live EP En Clave, Vol. 1 (El Vivo), which yielded a popular track in "El Tranki." Over the next two years, they continued to release music at a prolific rate, delivering singles like "Soy Vago" and the EP Las Archivadas. In late 2023, Clave Especial signed with the indie label Street Mob and released "Rápido Soy," which became their first major hit, pulling in millions of streams. Follow-up singles like "Kalashnikov" and "No Pasa Nada" were similarly successful and continued to net them new fans. The following year, the band's label partnered with Warner Music Latina, and they began building up to their debut album. "Como Capo" was a collaboration with Latin stars Fuerza Regida and anchored Clave Especial's first full-length, Mija No Te Asustes, which was released in February 2025.
