Nu-Disco

Nu-disco describes a 21st-century revival of the instrumental techniques and aesthetics of 1970s and 1980s Disco, including Electro-Disco styles as well as Euro-Disco and Boogie. It is rooted in disco re-edits pioneered in the mid-1990s by British DJs such as DJ Harvey and Faze Action on the labels Black Cock Records and Nuphonic. While the term was sometimes applied to American-born disco house, Funky House, and French House, in the 2000s, it was established as a distinct trend separate from those styles. Unlike disco house, nu-disco attempts to recreate original disco aesthetics, grooves, and instrumental techniques instead of just looping and processing disco samples. Nu-disco applies modern, polished Electronic production into organic, lively beats and structures of traditional disco, rather than the typical House grooves and structures of disco house, funky house, and French house while sometimes being influenced by these styles.
