Rap Metal

Rap metal is a form of Alternative Metal that features rapped Hip Hop vocals. As a heavier and more aggressive subset of Rap Rock, rap metal instrumentation is typically formed around mid-tempo riffs, groovy drumming, funky slap bass (often taking cues from its close cousin in Funk Metal) and a lesser emphasis on the fast playing and tricky guitar work common in other Metal genres. In addition, the genre often features a Punk-oriented aggression and elements of hip hop beats, such as the record scratches of Turntablism and the drumming style of Boom Bap. The lyrical themes are broad but often draw from rap music as well, focusing on angst, social consciousness, misanthropy, crime, hedonism, introspection, or braggadocio.
