Latin house is a subgenre of House that incorporates elements of Latin music (Hispanic American Music and Brazilian Music), usually the popular, danceable, syncopated, Afro-Latin styles such as Salsa, Samba, Mambo, Merengue, Cumbia, and Rumba cubana but others can be found too. It may use melodic phrases, vocal lines, percussion, or full rhythmic patterns from these genres while retaining the standard four-on-the-floor house beat and structure, typically within its traditional 115-135 BPM range. Drums such as claves, congas, bongos, timbales, and maracas are used to enrich the groove and swing. Melodic phrases from traditional Spanish guitars, pianos, and brasses are most often introduced through sampling, though they may also be emulated or come from original recordings, through collaborations with traditional performers.
