Jigg is a type of Hip Hop derived from Bounce that developed in Baton Rouge in the early 2000s. It is defined by offbeat basslines with skank melodies, synthetic brass leads, repetitive ad-libs, and call-and-response chants influenced by Crunk. Syncopated “twerk” clap rhythms are also common, and its tempo can vary between medium, rap-oriented drumming and an uptempo clubby sound. Lyrical content usually revolves around partying and topics like clubbing and ecstasy consumption, the latter of which the genre's name derives from. AKA: Baton Rouge Jigg
