Dream pop

Dream pop is a subgenre of Alternative Rock and Neo-Psychedelia characterized by reverberated guitars, effects-laden vocals, and dense productions, creating a psychedelic, spacious, and dreamlike sound. Songs are typically structured around traditional Pop Rock-sounding progressions, often with a steady yet de-emphasized beat, and feature quiet, breathy vocal deliveries to give the music an ethereal feel. Dream pop is commonly fused with elements of other densely-produced alternative rock and Indie Rock subgenres such as Shoegaze and Noise Pop. However, while those aforementioned styles all offer a similar "blanketing" feel, dream pop does not solely rely on "walls of sound" or heavily distorted guitar layers. Instead, dream pop groups often utilize various time-based and modulation effects, such as echo, delay, tremolo, and chorus, alongside reverb, to create immersive sonic textures. Additionally, many genre acts employ the atmospheric synthesizer layers and lush soundscapes heard in Ethereal Wave.
