"All by Myself" is a song by American singer-songwriter Eric Carmen, released by Arista in December 1975 as the first single from Carmen's debut album, Eric Carmen (1975). The verse is based on the second movement (Adagio sostenuto) of Sergei Rachmaninoff's 1900–1901 Piano Concerto No. 2 in C minor, Opus 18. The chorus was taken from the song "Let's Pretend", which Carmen wrote and recorded with the Raspberries in 1972.[5] The slide guitar solo was performed by studio guitarist Hugh McCracke
When I was young I never needed anyone And making love was just for fun Those days are gone Living alone I think of all The friends I've known But when I dial the telephone Nobody's home (CHORUS) All by myself, don't wanna be All by myself anymore All by myself, don't wanna live All by myself anymore Hard to be sure Some times I feel so insecure And love so distant and obscure Remains the cure (CHORUS) When I was young I never needed anyone And making love was just for fun Those days are gone (CHORUS) 2X
