The music video shows scenes of the three vocalists performing at a concert, preparing for the performance backstage and surrounding a tour bus.
In this song the singer hears through the gravevine that her guy has taken up with another girl. She begs him not to break up with her, offering an unusual reason: she doesn't look good in blue. This was the first song Diane Warren wrote for Exposé. It was early in her career, but Warren was already an established hitmaker, scoring for the likes of DeBarge ("Rhythm Of The Night"), Starship ("Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now") and Heart ("Who Will You Run To"). All of Exposé's songs from their first album were written and produced by Lewis Martineé, who created the group. He wrote most of the songs on their next album (What You Don't Know) as well, but Warren contributed "Your Baby Never Looked Good In Blue." On their third album, released in 1992, Martineé stepped back and Warren became their primary songwriter, delivering songs like "I'll Never Get Over You Getting Over Me" and "As Long As I Can Dream." That album ended up being their last, even though the group was still generating hits. When it stalled at #17, this broke a streak of seven consecutive Top 10 hits for Exposé. The group has an interesting history. After signing with Arista Records, all three original members were replaced before their first album was released. They were based in Miami, but Jeanette Jurado, who did most of their leads (including on "Your Baby Never Looked Good In Blue"), came from California. Their early hits were mostly dance tunes with a Cuban flavor, reflecting their founder Lewis Martineé's heritage. They later became more ballad-oriented. The music video is filled with behind-the-scenes footage of Exposé on tour. It was directed by S.A. Baron, who also did Whitney Houston's "I Have Nothing."
You should hear what they're sayin' about you You should see the way they talk behind my back They say that you found another and that you're gonna leave But you wouldn't do that to me, so [Chorus] Say it ain't true, The things that they've been sayin' They say that you found someone new But don't break my heart (don't break my heart) 'Cause your baby never looked good in blue Your baby never looked good in blue In the mornin', starin' into your eyes, Your eyes look everywhere, everywhere but mine (everywhere but mine) And, darlin', I've got a feelin' that the tears are gonna start And losin' you would tear my world apart, so [Chorus] Tell me (tell me) you still love me Show me (show me) you're still mine Don't tell me there's somebody new 'Cause you don't wanna see your baby cry Oh No no no no no [Chorus] [Repeat: x2] Your baby never looked good in blue
