This song is a tribute to the city of Miami, specifically the South Beach section. There is a great deal of diversity and wealth in South Beach, which Smith refers to in the lyrics. Beauty and celebrity are prized in Miami, and famous people often enjoy special treatment in the many beach resorts and nightclubs South Beach offers. This samples the 1980 song And The Beat Goes On by The Whispers. Will Smith had immediate solo success with his first single, "Men In Black," which was produced by the team of Jean-Claude Olivier and Samuel Barnes, also known as Poke & Tone or The Trackmasters. They also produced "Gettin' Jiggy Wit It" and "Miami" for Smith.
Uh, uh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, uh Miami, uh, uh South Beach, bringin' the heat, uh Haha, can y'all feel that? Can y'all feel that? Jig it out, uh Here I am, in the place where I come let go In Miami, the bass and the sunset low Everyday like a Mardi Gras, everybody party all day No work, all play, okay So we sip a little something, leave to rest the spill Me an Charlie at the bar, runnin' up a high bill Nothin' less than ill, when we dress to kill Every time the ladies pass, they be like "Hi Will" Can y'all feel me?
