Two music videos were released for the single. The international version is set at the edge of a futuristic city inside a large solitary building which could be a prison, barracks or factory. Inside are hundreds of clones dressed in black latex catsuits who are marching in unison, watched over by women wearing white. They at first appear to be marching towards a screen which shows September singing and dancing while wearing a strapless dress. The video intercuts between September and one of the clones singing the song, while another clone dances atop a podium. On the bridge, one of the clones breaks ranks. As she runs away, she takes off her black sunglasses and hood of her catsuit to reveal she is September. She is pursued by the women guards dressed in white who fire their laser guns, but September reaches a door and escapes outside.[17] The original video was a promotional video featuring September in a photoshoot, as it features on several covers of the singles CD cover formats. This version uses the original radio edit, while the UK video uses the UK mix of the song.[
September originally recorded this track in 2005. It began making waves in UK and American clubs in 2007 and in the latter territory it topped the Billboard Hot Dance Airplay charts. In 2008, the UK record label Hard2Beat made it their third national release and it swiftly entered the UK Top 10. All of Hard2Beat's first three releases made the UK Top 10. The other two, were "Now You're Gone" by September's fellow Swede Basshunter and "What's It Gonna Be" by H Two O featuring Platnum. September told Digital Spy about this song: "It's about when you're done with relationship. A lot of people write to me and say 'It's really emotional and I feel so much for the song because my boyfriend la la la', which is really nice for me, even though I didn't write the lyrics. I've had a lot of experiences like that so that's what gives me the nerve to sing it." The Swede, whose real name is Petra Marklund explained to Digital Spy why she is called September: "It's because I was born in September and my family knew someone called September. We always thought it was a nice name. Also, September is the time of the year when people are going inside and making music - in Sweden at least!" September was the first European dance act to have a Hot 100 hit for over two years. The previous one was the German club act Cascada, whose "Everytime We Touch," peaked at #10 in 2006. September explained to scandipop.co.uk, why it charted stateside: "The song was so strong by itself. And I've been there and it feels like the fans are starved of dance music. But now dance music is coming back again, and the world is getting smaller and smaller because of the internet – that now sometimes you don't even have to do much promotion, although obviously it is still very important. But I think that a hit song will always find a way." This samples the tune of Bronski Beat's "Smalltown Boy."
I never had to say goodbye You must have known I wouldn't stay While you were talking about our life You killed the beauty of today Forever and ever, life is now or never Forever never comes around People love and let go Forever and ever, life is now or never Forever's gonna slow you down You'll never see me again So now who's gonna cry for you? You'll never see me again No matter what you do You'll never see me again So now who's gonna cry for you? You'll never see me again No matter what you do (na, na, na, na) You never heard me break your heart You didn't wake up when we died Since I was lonely from the start I think the end is mine to write Forever and ever, life is now or never Forever never comes around People love and let go Forever and ever, life is now or never Forever's gonna slow you down You'll never see me again So now who's gonna cry for you? You'll never see me again No matter what you do You'll never see me again So now who's gonna cry for you? You'll never see me again No matter what you do Forever and ever, life is now or never Forever never comes around Forever and ever, life is now or never Forever's gonna slow you down You'll never see me again (forever and ever, life is now or never) So now who's gonna cry for you? (Forever never comes around) You'll never see me again (forever and ever, life is now or never) No matter what you do (forever's gonna slow you down) You'll never see me again (forever and ever, life is now or never) So now who's gonna cry for you? (Forever never comes around) You'll never see me again (forever and ever, life is now or never) No matter what you do (forever's gonna slow you down) Forever and ever, life is now or never Forever never comes around
