he Daylight Project video On September 18, 2012, the band announced on their website: "We need YOUR help for our next music video. We're asking YOU to record and share 'YOUR story', and that recording may be handpicked to appear in the video for our third single, 'Daylight', directed by Jonas Åkerlund."[26] Levine says, "As different as we all are, there are common themes that bring us together, inspire and show everyone what is important today. With this video, we'll present the world today and beyond, creating more than just a music video."[27] They also launched a website called "The Daylight Project" for more information and the people to submit their video. The video premiered through E! and Vevo on December 10, 2012.[28][29] The accompanying music video sees fans express things they love and hate throughout the clip, after the band asked them to submit entries online.[30] Playing for Change video Another music video was made, titled Daylight (Playing for Change) was directed by Mark Johnson and released on the band's YouTube channel, January 17, 2013.[31] It includes artist Chelsea Williams and several street musicians from around the world to sing along and playing instruments with scenes of Maroon 5 performing live on concert shows
Co-written by frontman Adam Levine and Swedish hitmaker Max Martin, this bittersweet tale of a lover creeping away in the morning is one of several Overexposed tracks where Maroon 5 worked with chart-friendly songwriters. The album title itself is further evidence that on this record, the band are aiming to be a band whose music will be inescapable. "The title is kind of pre-emptively saying, 'Hey, we're overexposed. Deal with it,' " Levine told MTV News. "Bands like to do this thing where they're like, 'Oh, man, we just didn't know. Oh my God, it's so crazy, we just wrote this song,' and that's true, but we like that. We want to have that experience, we want to have hits, we want to have songs that, internationally, people are going to know." The song's music video was directed by Jonas Akerlund and finds the band's fans expressing things they love and hate, after they were asked to submit their stories online. Said Levine, "As different as we all are, there are common themes that bring us together, inspire and show everyone what is important today. With this video, we'll present the world today and beyond, creating more than just a music video." Maroon 5 played this at the Grammy Awards in 2013 with Alicia Keys. They also did Keys' "Girl On Fire" in the performance. This was the third #1 on Billboard's Pop Songs chart to be taken from Maroon 5's album Overexposed, following "Payphone" and "One More Night." The previous set by a group to spawn a trio of Pop Songs chart-toppers was Ace of Base's The Sign in 1993-94.
