The music video of the song was released on 29 October 2021 on Sheeran's YouTube account the same day as its parent album's release, which was directed by Jason Koenig who previously directed the official music videos for "Shape of You", "Galway Girl", "Perfect", "South of the Border" and "Put It All on Me".[7] In the video, Sheeran accidentally gets left behind by his tour bus and ends up going on wild adventures, meeting different people on the way, ranging from going camping with a group of teens, going wild in a glow in the dark party, riding with a bike gang, and chasing the tour bus in a car with a family. The music video features retired professional sumo wrestler Yamamotoyama Ryūta (credited as "Yama"), who appears towards the end of the clip inviting Sheeran for a ride on the bus. The video also features a cameo from Emilio Rivera.[8] Finally, the snippet of the Japanese cover of Sheeran's smash-hit "Shape of You" by Japanese singer MARINA plays during the end credits, as the bus (now with Sheeran on it) drives away. In a blink and you’d miss it scene at the glow in the dark party, the female boxer, Pegouskie, from the ‘Shape of You’ music video (where Yamamotoyama also starred), appears in a boxing stance with Sheeran.
Ed Sheeran wrote this sad banger about his first serious breakup ("you were the first full stop"). The singer remembers his feelings as their relationship reached its end ("The car was stuck, the engine stalled"). However, Sheeran's love for his ex will remain with him forever ("We'll never fade like graffiti on the overpass"). Sheeran penned the disco-tinged song with two of his regular songwriting partners: Snow Patrol's Johnny McDaid and songwriter/producer Fred Again. Other collaborations between the three include the singles "Bad Habits" and "Shivers." Originally the song was a slow power ballad. Then Fred Again said, "Have you ever thought about making it double time?" Sheeran told Apple Music this suggestion gave the track new life. Ed Sheeran premiered the synthy pop tune during a gig at HMV Empire, Coventry, on August 25, 2021. He also debuted another = track, "First Times," at the same show. Jason Koenig ("Shape Of You" and "Perfect") directed the video, which finds Sheeran having an adventure after getting stranded in the desert. Ed Sheeran performed this song on the November 8, 2021 episode of Saturday Night Live. He also played another Equals track, "Shivers," on the same show.
This is a dark parade Another rough patch to rain on To rain on I know your friends may say This is a cause for celebration Hip-hip-hooray, love Photographs in sepia tones So still, the fire's barely fighting the cold Alone There are times when I can feel your ghost Just when I'm almost letting you go The cards were stacked against us both I will always love you for what it's worth We'll never fade like graffiti on the overpass And I know time may change the way you think of us But I'll remember the way we were You were the first full stop, love that will never leave Baby, you will never be lost on me This is a goddamn shame I never wanted to break it, or leave us tainted Know I should walk away But I just can't replace us or even erase us The car was stuck, the engine stalled And both of us got caught out in the snow Alone There were times when I forget the lows And think the highs were all that we'd ever known The cards were stacked against us both I will always love you for what it's worth We'll never fade like graffiti on the overpass And I know time may change the way you think of us But I'll remember the way we were You were the first full stop, love that will never leave Baby, you will never be lost on me Lost on me Baby, you will never be lost on me Lost on me Well, I will always love you for what it's worth We'll never fade like graffiti on the overpass And I know time may change the way you think of us But I'll remember the way we were You were the first full stop, love that will never leave Baby, you will never be lost on me Yeah, yeah, yeah Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah Lost on me, ooh Graffiti on the overpass
