First teased on a TikTok posted on May 21st, 2022, “Numb” is an upbeat collaboration between music producer Marshmello and R&B singer Khalid. “Numb” is the second collab between the two artists and marks nearly a five year stretch between their first hit together, “Silence”, which was released on August 11th, 2017. Compared to “Silence” which presents itself with R&B influences and a more ambient instrumental, “Numb” takes a different approach with an alternative dance instrumental produced by Marshmello himself and Digital Farm Animals. Throughout the entirety of the track’s lyrics, Khalid sings about a person that they’re infatuated with while living life to its extent with themes such as late night parties, dancing, and getting drunk.
