Lil Baby kicks off this moody song by recounting his journey from Atlanta's impoverished West End to a luxury Bel Air home. Yeah, made it out the trenches, this type of life I can get used to Number one on YouTube, private dinner in Malibu The rapper is truly grateful for his new life in California away from his disadvantaged upbringing. Throughout the rest of the song, Baby touches on his undedicated former associates and love of making money. The rapper dedicates most of his bars to his romantic relationships, including his love interest, the titular "California Breeze." Canadian beatmaker Murda Beatz (Migos' "MotorSport" Drake's "Nice For What") created the instrumentation with German producer Mars. They built their production around a pitched-down and stretched-out vocal sample from Coco O's 2021 track "Gwen." Danish musician Coco O is best known as the singer in electronic soul duo Quadron, but "Gwen" is from her debut solo album, It's A Process. Lil Baby released "California Breeze" as a promotional single from his album It's Only Me along with an Ivan Berrios-directed music video. The visual finds the rapper taking a girl on a date on the California coast.
