“Mastermind” is the closing track to the standard edition of Taylor Swift’s tenth studio album, Midnights. She revealed the song’s title and track number in the first video of her TikTok game Midnight Mayhem With Me on September 21st, 2022. Swift reaffirms that she thinks that she and her long-time partner actor Joe Alwyn were meant for each other, but she also schemed and made up a plan to ensure that they would be together. Once she admits this to her lover, he just smiles because he already knew that something like that was in her nature. All’s well that ends well to end up with you. The title is also a nod to her fans calling Swift a “mastermind” for her careful planning of Easter eggs and releases.
