At the start of this song, Tyler Hubbard is dancing with a love interest in a club. It's crowded and they've got no room to move, so he suggests throwing her a private dance party out in the country. He tells her they'll have such a great time, she won't want to leave. Hubbard took inspiration for the upbeat song from the dance parties he has with his wife and three children. It became a nightly tradition in the Hubbard household to go in the playroom, turn on the party lights and make some moves as a family. "We've been having these dance parties every night at my house after dinner with our three kids," Hubbard told Apple Music, "so I was sort of in that headspace of 'Let's just make some fun music.'" Hubbard wrote "Dancin' In The Country" with Ross Copperman, Jon Nite and Keith Urban on November 3, 2021, at a Black River studio. "I was fortunate enough to get to write this with Ross Copperman, Jon Nite and Keith Urban, who's just incredible as a writer and a guitarist, and he and Ross Copperman really helped capture the feel and emotion of this song sonically," Hubbard said. "And also me and Jon Nite really tried to dial in the lyrics and they were also very helpful with that." The banjo-laced song is the title track of Hubbard's Dancin' in the Country EP. The project serves a precursor to the Florida Georgia Line member's debut full-length solo album. Hubbard released "Dancin' in the Country" just two weeks before he was due to be the opening act on the fall leg of Keith Urban's Speed of Now World Tour. "I'm excited to play that one out on tour with him," said the singer during a Taste of Country Nights interview, "and who knows, maybe I can convince him to come out and play a guitar solo with me or something." When he was working on this song, Jon Nite wasn't sure if it was being written for Urban or Florida Georgia Line. It was not until later that he found out Hubbard was working on solo material. "The whole time I was laughing because I felt like I was writing for the song," he recalled to Billboard. "Keith would be like, 'This would be great for Tyler' when Tyler was in the bathroom. And then Tyler would be like, 'This would be great for Keith' when Keith was in the bathroom.'" When they finished writing, Urban said to Hubbard, "I think we just wrote your first single," giving clarity about which artist would keep "Dancin' In The Country." The song's music video features former pro football player, actor and TV host Terry Crews (Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Everybody Hates Chris, The Expendables) as the leader of a motorcycle gang who enters a bar and finds himself in a dance-off. "We knew we kind of wanted to kind of go big on this 'Dancin' In The Country' video, and we had a really cool treatment, a cool concept that sort of required an iconic actor, if you will, an iconic face – somebody that would stand out and bring this story to life and really do it justice," said Hubbard. "So, we started a list, me and the team, sort of dream people and at the top of the list was Terry Crews." Terry Crews has featured in several music videos, often in the role of a humorous and energetic character. His other appearances include: 2003 "Down" by Blink-182 2015 "These Walls" by Kendrick Lamar 2017 "Swish Swish" by Katy Perry 2018 "Pressure" by Muse 2018 "Algorithm" by Muse 2019 "Stay High" by Brittany Howard
