Tyler, the Creator killed it with his 2021 album, Call Me If You Get Lost. It topped the Billboard 200 and even scored him a second Grammy for Best Rap Album. Critics were all over it, loving his growth as a lyricist and producer. Tyler dropped the deluxe edition, Call Me If You Get Lost: The Estate Sale on March 31, 2023 through Columbia Records. The artist announced on Twitter that he had a bunch of leftover tracks that he loved but knew they'd never see the light of day, so he decided to put them out. Coinciding with the announcement, Tyler dropped its lead single, "Dogtooth," a track that he wrote and produced. Featuring a sunny mix of piano and synths, "Dogtooth" is a song about Tyler's lust for a girl, his sense of superiority, and a warning to his rivals that they don't measure up. He's not shy about his wealth and ambition, bragging about buying his neighbor's house and turning it into a yard. Tyler's all about loyalty to his people too. He mentions his grandma Lynda, whom he loved and lost in 2013, and says that if you don't know her name, you're not close to him. The line that caught the most attention is in the final chorus. If you don't know my daughter name, then we ain't really dogs No, Tyler the Creator doesn't have a daughter and there's no need to send him a Father's Day card. He explained on Twitter after fans started asking about the line: "I don't have kids and don't plan on it hahaha." The song title comes up twice in the lyrics, first in the intro where Tyler is flexing about trying to buy his neighbor's house and being "back at it, dogtooth, yuh, dogtooth, yuh" with his crew. In the outro, he repeats the word "dogtooth" and uses it to harmonize. While "dogtooth" usually refers to a canine tooth, in this song it's clear that Tyler is using the term to show his unbeatable attitude and to boast. He's bragging about his power moves and showing that he can't be defeated. "Dogtooth" features the Atlanta hip-hop artist DJ Drama on ad-libs. DJ Drama is a prominent feature throughout Call Me If You Get Lost, even acting as its narrator. Tyler self-directed the music video for "Dogtooth," which showcases his opulent and sophisticated style. The visual shows Tyler walking some high-end dogs and using a crane to demolish several Rolls-Royce vehicles.
