Growing up, the Jonas Brothers went to Waffle House post-gigs, and it became their haven. In the diner, they hashed out ideas, tackled issues as a unit, and found strength in their unbreakable bond. The genesis of the track "Waffle House" stems from an uncomplicated yet compelling idea: If you surround yourself with your nearest and dearest, the world is your oyster. The song isn't about chowing down on waffles, it's about chasing your ambitions with your ride-or-dies. So, don't sweat the small stuff - with your crew by your side, you can conquer anything. The Jonas Brothers first performed "Waffle House" at their March 18, 2023, concert at the Marquis Theatre in midtown Manhattan. "One of the things that we used to do back in the day before we were old enough to go and decompress post-show at a bar, was we would just go to a Waffle House," Nick Jonas explained while introducing the song, "and sit there and spend hours talking about those experiences on stage, life on the road, and it really became a foundation for our relationship as brothers outside of the music that we did together." The Jonas Brothers penned the giddy anthem with producers Jon Bellion, Pete Nappi, Tenroc, Ido Zmishlany and Daniel Tashian, alongside Aldae and Johnny Simpson. Founders Joe Rogers Sr. and Tom Forkner opened the first Waffle House restaurant on September 5, 1955, in Avondale Estates, Georgia, The Waffle House chain has since expanded to over 2,000 locations across the United States. The popular American diner chain is often referenced in popular culture., including in these songs: 2003 "Nights I Can't Remember, Friends I'll Never Forget" by Toby Keith He said I fallen in love with a waitress That I met at a Waffle House diner 2008 "Good Time" by Alan Jackson Five o'clock we know were that's gonna go Closing the door, shuttin' 'em down Head for that Waffle House way across town 2008 "Waffle House" by Colt Ford Meet me at the Waffle House It's goin down Just found out my ole lady's been messin around 2008 "Call Up The Homies" by Ludacris Then it's off to the Waffle House And pancake mix ain't the only thing, coming out of mouth 2013 "Fuzzy" by Randy Rogers Band But around 1:30 I was sittin' at a Waffle House I think I had grits Started hittin' on a waitress Everything after that gets fuzzy 2014 "Almost Everything" by The Hold Steady The bus it rolled up into Franklin at dawn and everything seemed super slo-mo The Waffle House waitress that asked us if we were Pink Floyd 2015 "Real Life" by Jake Owen We stay out way too late Hit the Waffle House for some real food 2016 "Big Amount" by 2 Chainz (feat Drake) Favorite spot was the Waffle House Patty melt with the hash browns 2021 "Minimum Wage" by Blake Shelton Playin' for pennies on a dive bar stage Split an all-star special on our first date In a Waffle House booth 2021 "Fancy Like" by Walker Hayes Boy, put that Dom down, take me to Waffle House Give me those cheap thrills, chillin' in the Deep South Jonas Brothers performed "Waffle House" on the April 8, 2023, episode of Saturday Night Live. It marked the third time the sibling band had been the musical performer on the sketch show. On April 14, 2023, the Jonas Brothers descended upon London's illustrious Royal Albert Hall for their One Night Only concert. Not content with just wowing their fans on stage, the talented trio also took the opportunity to shoot a music video for "Waffle House." Directed by Anthony Mandler, the visual features the three pop-star siblings in three different locations around England's capital city. Joe Jonas is in his element, DJing at one of his famous "Cup of Joe" nights. Meanwhile, Kevin Jonas walks a dark street in a sleek and stylish peacoat, exuding an air of mystery and intrigue. And Nick Jonas lives it up in a grand hotel room, surrounded by a merry party. But as the upbeat melody kicks in, the three brothers begin making their way towards each other. With choreography that harks back to their Camp Rock days, the trio dance their way through the city before linking up just in time to take over the Royal Albert Hall for the song's raucous final chorus. Mandler has worked with the Jonas Brothers on several of their previous videos, including "Sucker," "Cool," and "Only Human," as well as their Happiness Continues concert documentary.
