On “Pelle Coat” Lil Durk reflects on everything that’s happening in the world, around him and his environment, including situations that have occurred affecting mostly the people he hold close, mainly friends and close ones. The song itself is also an address to people who think they know Durk, he also expresses how he shows love to his team and those surrounding him. It is delivered through a story telling, melodic, narrative and third person manner, throughout the song Durk seems to let the audience in his world, mostly filled with incarcerations, deaths and mistakes which have happened, either made by him or his compatriots. A chopped, soft and bass filled instrumental makes way for Lil Durk to effortlessly apply delivery of his flow, rhyme and all in all what he has to say, which is to give the audience and fans a story, insight and the wonders of his world. “Pelle Coat” serves as the third song and music video released off of the “Almost Healed” album, the song together with “Therapy Session” was released with a music video which features an appearance from Alicia Keys, before this the J.Cole assisted “All My Life” was released first, including a music video too.
