Following the release of the deluxe edition, in November 2024, Tyla took to social media to announce that she will be releasing the music video to "Push 2 Start".[56] The announcement coincided with the 2024 United States presidential election, leading the United States citizens to attack Tyla on socials, telling her to "read the room".[57] Directed by Aerin Moreno,[11] the music video premiered on YouTube on 8 November 2024,[58] at midnight (UTC+02:00).[57] It amassed over 400,000 views in 9 hours.[58] She was praised for bringing along her high school best friend, Thato Nzimande, as the creative director.[59] Choreographed by Lee-ché,[11] the video is set at a car wash where Tyla and her dancers perform a choreography near a vibrant backdrop. She later spray paints herself similar to how a car would be painted and dances on a car carrier as the video concludes.[60] Several critics compared the visuals of the music video to the likes of Rihanna and Beyoncé, pointing out similar scenes from the music videos for their songs, "Shut Up and Drive" and "Crazy in Love" respectively, emphasizing the 2000s pop and R&B music video vibe.[61][62][63] She also wears Rihanna-inspired heels in the video
"Push 2 Start" is a reggae-infused Afropop and amapiano delight that metaphorically compares the everyday act of starting a car into a metaphor for taking charge in love. With all the grace and sass of someone who knows exactly what they're worth, Tyla makes it clear she's not here for any idle revving. "Ride before I decide to go home," she demands. Tyla wrote the song with Ari PenSmith, Believve, Mocha Bands, James McCarthy and Corey Marlon Lindsay-Keay. If those names sound familiar, it's because they've also had a hand in crafting Tyla's other hits, like "Water" and "Jump." Sammy Soso, Tyla's go-to producer, created the track's fluid, car-inspired production. The beat hums and purrs like a finely tuned engine, effortlessly mirroring the lyrical metaphors with smooth gear changes and rhythmic accelerations. Tyla gave "Push 2 Start" its live debut on October 15, 2024, at the 2024 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show in New York City, where she performed it as part of a medley with "Water." She reprised the medley a month later at the MTV Europe Music Awards in Manchester, England. The song hit the airwaves alongside the deluxe edition of Tyla's self-titled debut album, Tyla +, where "Push 2 Start" was one of three new tracks. The music video for "Push 2 Start," directed by Aerin Moreno, is set in a vibrant car wash, as Tyla and her backup dancers perform energetic choreography. The clip is reminiscent of Rihanna's video for " Shut Up And Drive," with Tyla even donning heels inspired by the Barbadian superstar.
