The music video was released alongside the single. Directed by Yongseok Choi, it was filmed in Singapore in partnership with the Singapore Tourism Board.[6] The video stars actress South Korean actress Shin Se-kyung and was the first time that Jin worked with an actor.[1] It opens with Jin watching Shin drive away. As he visits tourist attractions (including the Goldhill Plaza, Marina Bay, National Gallery Singapore, Anderson Bridge and Singapore Flyer),[6] Jin has visions of Shin in these places and is haunted by memories of their relationship.[2][4][6] In the finale, Jin chases her departing car and eventually reunites with Shin
"Don't Say You Love Me" is a heartbreak ballad dressed in breezy West Coast guitars and melancholic synths. Singing entirely in English, Jin explores the pain and complexity of ending a relationship. When Jin debuted "Don't Say You Love Me" on the May 21, 2025 episode of The Tonight Show, he told host Jimmy Fallon: "When you're in love sometimes you know that it's time to leave, but you can't bring yourself to do it. The song is about that emotion. So it's sad, but it's also bittersweet." The song was co-written and produced by Nathan "Tiggs" Fertig (Alec Benjamin's "I Built A Friend," Tate McRae's "Kids Are Alright") and Wyatt Sanders, whose credits range from Diplo to Enhypen. "Don't Say You Love Me" is the lead single from Echo, Jin's second solo EP. Echo is a collection of heartfelt messages about love, companionship, and the journey of life expressed through Jin's perspective. Jin said that the difference between Echo and his first EP, Happy, is that on the new release he was "able to capture my feelings better." Jin stars in the music video alongside Korean actress Shin Se-kyung. Its portrayal of former lovers grappling with unresolved feelings and the pain of separation is reminiscent of a K-drama.
I really thought I made up my mind Hopped in the car and put it in drive I tried to leave like a hundred times But something's stopping me every time Oh Faking a smile while we're breaking apart Oh, I never, never, never meant to take it this far Too late to save me, so don't even start Oh, you never meant to hurt me but you're making it hard Don't tell me that you're gonna miss me Just tell me that you wanna kill me Don't say that you love me 'cause it hurts the most You just gotta let me go I really thought this was for the best It never worked last time that I checked I got this pain stuck inside my chest And it gets worse the further I get Oh Faking a smile while we're breaking apart Oh, I never, never, never meant to take it this far Too late to save me, so don't even start Oh, you never meant to hurt me but you're making it hard Don't tell me that you're gonna miss me Just tell me that you wanna kill me Don't say that you love me 'cause it hurts the most You just gotta let me go Lie to me, tell me that you hate me Look me in the eyes and call me crazy Don't say that you love me 'cause it hurts the most You just gotta let me go Let me go Gotta let me go Gotta let me Don't say that you love me 'cause it hurts the most You just gotta let me go
