If you've ever sat there late at night, staring at your glowing phone screen and thinking, "Maybe I should read something more edifying than the comments under a dog video," then Josiah Queen has written your song. "Dusty Bibles" is part confession, part sermon, and part gentle nudge from someone who's been scrolling right alongside you. Released on June 20, 2025, as part of Queen's second album Mt. Zion, "Dusty Bibles" is a faith-filled, folk-influenced song where Josiah draws a stark contrast between modern technology and spiritual neglect. The opening line lays it out plain: We got dust on our Bibles, brand new iPhones No wonder why we feel this way Queen got the idea for the song after spending an hour doomscrolling on his phone. He wrote it with Hillsong United's Dylan Thomas, Rhode Island singer-songwriter Jvke, and the track's producer, John Michael Howellin. "With 'Dusty Bibles,' I just had this thought about we've got dust on our Bibles but brand-new iPhones," he told Billboard. "We all kind of laughed and [my co-writers] were like, 'You can't put that in a song,' and' 'How about Android users?' But it just stuck." "Dusty Bibles" is built around an honest conversation with Jesus. It's a heart-to-heart reminder that maybe the peace we're all scrolling for isn't hidden in an algorithm after all. Biblically, the song nods toward Romans 12:2 - "Do not conform to the pattern of this world" - and carries echoes of the Psalms' longing for renewal. "I was spending too much time on my phone, and it felt really timely," Queen said. "It's funny, because without TikTok or Instagram, I probably wouldn't have a career, but if you find all your validation from your phone, it just never fulfills that." An acoustic "Mt. Zion Version" followed in July 2025, stripping the production back even further and putting the focus on the intimacy of Queen's vocal. The song took off quickly, hitting nearly 10 million streams within its first month, helped by the irony of TikTok users sharing clips about putting down their phones. By October 2025, "Dusty Bibles" had cracked the Hot 100, making it Queen's first chart entry.
