Jersey Club

ersey club is a style of East Coast Club that originated in Newark in the early 2000s and is often considered Newark’s response to the predating Baltimore Club scene. Both genres are frequently centered around a 4/4-time signature, as well as BPMs ranging from roughly 130-140, with syncopated kick patterns. Unlike Baltimore club however, Jersey club often uses harder kicks more often than not, as well as more chopping of samples. Jersey club also tends to have a distinct “bounciness” to its sound, often the result of triplet percussive patterns and Breakbeat inspired rhythms. DJ Tameil, as well as other members of Brick Bandits, are often considered pioneers of the genre. AKA: Brick City Club
