Post-Grunge

Post-grunge is a subgenre of Alternative Rock emulative of Grunge that utilizes more melodic, radio-friendly songwriting. Post-grunge variably incorporates the heavy guitar tones, Hard Rock-infused riffing, soft-loud song structures, raspy vocal styles, and mid-tempo pacing of grunge and fuses these stylings with Pop Rock and arena rock sensibilities. Post-grunge typically exhibits a less abrasive sound than grunge, distanced from its Noise Rock and Post-Hardcore stylings, and often implements cleaner production styles. Post-grunge bands typically perform both energetic Rock songs and slower, often acoustic leaning ballads. Lyrically, post-grunge often retains grunge’s angsty subject matter, frequently focusing on romantic woes, addiction, and alienation, though, can also lean towards a more lighthearted style.
