In 2001 Kevin Lyttle, a Soca artist from the island of Saint Vincent, recorded this song in 2 takes in less than an hour. This samples R&B quartet 112's "All My Love" from their 1998 Room 112 album. The song was popularized at the 2001 St. Vincent Carnival and quickly spread to neighboring islands by radio. Word gradually spread to Europe and the single sold nearly a million there in 2003. In Britain it became an unofficial anthem for the Notting Hill Carnival and American radio played it incessantly, making it a hit there the following summer. A rap by Spragga Benz was added to the American version to increase dancehall appeal. In 2007 this was voted the most influential ever St. Vincent song as part of the island's Silver Jubilee Independence Anniversary Carnival. >>
