The video begins with Jungkook making a hand gesture as a reference to the band's Hwa Yang Yeon Hwa On Stage: Prologue video. The camera then zooms in through his fingers to reveal the seven band members seated in a barren desert, in the same order as seen in the 2014 "Just One Day" music video. Jin is seen in the truck he previously used in "Run"'s music video, facing the angel statue from "Blood Sweat & Tears." The old brown piano from Suga's "First Love" short film also makes an appearance. The blue container trailer that RM had passed in "Run" is now in front of him, and J-Hope is standing alongside the train from "Spring Day" on the dunes. BTS' first chapter ends where it began nine years ago, as the boys stand together in front of the bus. Where V covered Jin's eyes with his hands in the music video for "Blood Sweat & Tears," six years later, in "Yet to Come," Jin removes his hands to present to V the symbol of BTS' beginning — the yellow school bus from their very first music video, "No More Dream." They don dazzling white clothes that complement their happy looks instead of the dark and heavy makeup they wore nine years before. The septet is back on the bus, seated in the same configuration as in "Spring Day," and ready to head to their next destination, which has not yet been reached.
In this optimistic, piano-based hip-hop track, BTS reflect nostalgically on their career so far and look to keep moving forward in the future. The group state that "nothing much has changed" since their early days, as their drive remains love of music. They admit they've still got a lot to learn and hope their most beautiful moment is yet to come. "Yet To Come" is one of three new tracks the K-Pop group recorded for their anthology collection Proof. The album embodies the history of BTS, so this song's celebratory theme fits perfectly. "I feel like we've done a great job getting where we are now, and I think our new song marks a comma, not a period in our career," Jimin said of the track. "I want its message to our fans to be that we are going to return with a more mature version of ourselves." "Yet To Come (The Most Beautiful Moment)" calls back to BTS' "The Most Beautiful Moment In Life" series, which the Bangtan Boys released between 2015 and 2016. During that period, they explored the highs and lows of young adulthood and dreams for the future. BTS members J-hope, SUGA and RM wrote "Yet to Come" alongside Dan Gleyzer, Maxwell "Max" Schneider, and producer Pdogg. A Berklee School of Music graduate, Dan Gleyzer has also written for Meghan Traynor ("Ashes," "Here To Stay") and Miley Cyrus ("Lonely"). American singer-songwriter Max is best known for his 2016 single "Lights Down Low," which became a sleeper hit over a year later. Regular BTS collaborator Pdogg is a producer, composer, and lyricist for Big Hit Music. He has worked with the boys since their 2013 debut album, 2 Cool 4 Skool. BTS released a British rock version of "Yet To Come" in partnership with Hyundai as part of "Goal Of The Century," the car company's promotional campaign for the 2022 FIFA World Cup. "Yet to Come (Hyundai Ver.)" features a revised chorus with new sports-themed lyrics. We're going straight to the stars, they never thought we'd make it this far Now the vision is clear, the goal of the century is here BTS also dropped a video for the remix. The visual sees the Bangtan Boys performing the song live from a rooftop, mixed with shots of soccer-playing children and people watching World Cup events. Consequence Of Sound's readers ranked "Yet To Come" as their Best Song of 2022. They also chose BTS as Best Band and Proof as Best Album.
[English translation:]
Was it honestly the best?
'Cause I just wanna see the next
Diligently passing through
All our yesterdays so beautifully
Yeah, the past was honestly the best
But my best is what comes next
I'm not playin', nah for sure
Heading towards the day 'till I get winded
You and I, best moment is yet to come
Moment is yet to come, yeah
Not sure since when
But they say we're the best
Full of these unfamiliar names
Now they just feel heavy
We just loved music
We're just running forward
Promise that we'll keep on coming back for more
Somewhere deep inside your heart
There still lives a young boy
My-y-y-y moment is yet to come, yet to come
Uh, do you have a dream? What's at the end of that path?
Moment is yet to come, yeah
Uh, in the hush of night, we won't stop moving
Yet to come
Uh, we gonna touch the sky, 'fore the day we die
Moment is yet to come, yeah
Uh, this is only the beginning, the best yet to come
That uncomfortable title we were given one day
We are still abashed by being called the best
You know, I, I, just love music
Nothing much has changed from back then
If nothing much has changed, probably
You'll say it's all a lie, yeah
There were a lot of changes but
I'm still the same, a new chapter
Every moment is my new best
Like I'm thirteen years old again
Spittin' bars just like I did back then, huh
Still got a lot to learn
My life, got a lot to fulfill
If you're askin' me why
My heart's tellin' you
We ain't about it, the world's expectations
We ain't about it, that step of being the best
(We ain't about it) Crowns and flowers, countless trophies
(We ain't about it) Dream & hope & goin' forward
(We so about it) It's back to square one after making one long turn, back to one
Somewhere deep inside your heart
There still lives a young boy
My-y-y-y moment is yet to come, yet to come
Uh, do you have a dream? What's at the end of that path?
Moment is yet to come, yeah
Uh, in the hush of night, we won't stop moving
Yet to come
Uh, we gonna touch the sky, 'fore the day we die
Moment is yet to come, yeah
Uh, this is only the beginning, the best yet to come
So was it honestly the best? (The best)
'Cause I just wanna see the next ('Cause I just wanna see the next, yeah)
Dazzlingly passing through
The memories so beautifully
Yeah the past was honestly the best (The best)
But my best is what comes next (But my best is what comes next, yeah)
We'll be singin' till the morn
Heading towards the day more like ourselves
